RAWALPINDI: A man in Rawalpindi was threatened with serious consequences if he did not pay Rs1.5 million as extortion, according to the victim.
The victim, Nasir Hussain, lodged an FIR with the Kallar Syedan Police Station that when he returned from Italy in September, two strangers, along with a woman entered his house.
Nasir Hussain claimed that the accused introduced themselves as a special correspondent of a private news channel, director of Human Rights Committee Rawalpindi and woman introduced herself as a special magistrate.
According to the victim, the accused said, “We have been keenly watching your house, children and their activities for a long time, whether they go to school, to the tutor, to their grandmother’s house or to their native village.”
Later, the victim said, the accused demanded Rs1.5m, failure to pay which would result in the abduction of the man’s children or worse.
The victim was told to deliver the money to a suitable location. He was also threatened with serious consequences if he involved the police or informed anyone else about the extortion.
Nasir Hussain has appealed to RPO Rawalpindi, CPO Rawalpindi and Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Bazdar to take immediate action against the accused.
