An explosion has occurred near Kagazai Check Post in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as reported by national media on Sunday.
According to police, the explosion took place due to a hand grenade blast. One person was killed in the explosion, further investigation is underway.
It should be remembered that earlier in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district, unidentified individuals destroyed a gas SMS pipeline through explosives, resulting in massive damage.
Police stated that the unidentified individuals planted a bomb along the pipeline near the Indus Highway, which exploded late at night with a loud blast. The sound of the explosion was heard far and wide, and the surrounding areas trembled.
According to police, after the explosion, the gas supply was suspended while the pipeline suffered severe damage.
After the incident, police, other institutions, and officials of the gas department reached the spot and started a search operation in the area. Repair work has also begun after estimating the losses.
It is worth mentioning that Karak was the only district that had remained safe from the threat of terrorism for the last twenty years; however, after the recent incidents, the situation has changed. Karak is a mineral-rich district with large reserves of oil, gas, uranium, gypsum, and coal.
