A massive explosion occurred at the industrial estate in Multan’s Fahd Town when a gas-filled tanker exploded, causing widespread destruction.
According to media reports, the blast resulted in the deaths of five individuals and left over 25 others injured, including women and children. The injured have been taken to Nishtar Hospital, with four of them in critical condition.
The explosion, caused by a gas leak in the container, led to a fire that engulfed several warehouses and damaged nearby buildings. Additionally, 20 livestock were killed in the incident.
Rescue teams have been conducting a search operation to evacuate individuals trapped in nearby homes, with concerns that more casualties may be found. The area has been cordoned off, and the gas and electricity supply has been cut off. Fire tenders have been called from Muzaffargarh and Khanewal to assist with firefighting efforts.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali Bukhari confirmed that investigations into the tanker fire are underway. He further stated that search operations are continuing due to the possibility of more injuries, with rescue teams and law enforcement agencies involved.
Eighteen rescue vehicles participated in the firefighting operation, and rescue teams will remain on-site until the area is cleared.
