ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office has said that Pakistan is actively engaged with the Iranian government to deal with the spread of coronavirus and the evolving situation.
At her weekly briefing, FO Spokesperson Aisha Farooqui told Pakistan completely supports the efforts of Iranian establishment in managing the outbreak of the coronavirus. Pakistan stands in solidarity with them.
She said our embassy and two consulates in Iran are alert and monitoring the situation closely and are reaching out to the Pakistani community there including Zaireen and students.
A helpline has also been set up in the embassy and the consulates to give the compulsory latest information to the community members. Aisha Farooqui expressed serious concerns over the aggression against Muslims in New Delhi.
She said Pakistan, as well as the international community’s members, have also raised their concerns on the position in India. She said the state oppression that the Kashmiri people have been suffering for decades at the hands of Indian authorities has now found its way in the Indian capital.
She said Pakistan has appreciated the intercession offer made by Donald Trump during his visit to New Delhi. Farooqi, however, said Pakistan has reservations over the defense deals between the US and India particularly deal of complicated weapons to India.
The spokesperson said Pakistan has been the victim of state terrorism emanating from the eastern border. She said Pakistan has shared our concerns in this regard with the international community.
She said also Pakistan welcomes the peace deal to be signed between the US and Afghan Taliban on Saturday. The spokesperson expressed the confidence that this will floor the way for in Afghan discussion.
