KARACHI: The Sindh government on Friday announced a salary increase of up to 30% for government employees in the provincial budget for Fiscal Year 2024-25. Specifically, the salaries for grade 1 to 16 employees will see a 30% increase, while officers from grade 17 and above will receive up to a 22% increase.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah presented this budget during an assembly session.
“We conducted a thorough review. We determined that the minimum salary should be Rs37,000. Therefore, government employees should also receive this amount. For Grades 1 to 6, which are the most vulnerable, we increased the salary by 25%, raising the entry-level salary to Rs33,000 from the basic Rs28,000,” stated Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
“To address this, we increased the salaries of Grade 1 to 6 employees by 30%. If this increase does not bring their salary to Rs37,000, we will provide a personal pay differential to ensure their minimum salary reaches Rs37,000. This applies specifically to Grade 1 to 6 employees.”
For Grade 7 to 16 employees, the provincial government increased salaries by 25%, aligning with other provinces, while Grade 17 and above employees will see a 22% increase. Additionally, Chief Minister Murad announced a 15% increase in pensions.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister proposed to set minimum wage at at Rs37,000.
