ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has underlined to work with countries around the world to unlock the potential of cooperation in various sectors and fields.
Addressing a dinner reception organized in honour of the diplomatic corps in Islamabad, the foreign minister said the coalition government tried to restore engagement with the world community across the globe.
Bilawal said that he visited various capitals of the world and during those tours, he found an immense potential for Pakistan that needs to be tapped. He said that he was shocked to see the immense potential for Pakistan in the countries he had been visiting during the last 15 months.
Calling it an honour to serve as the foreign minister, he spoke highly of Pakistan’s diplomats and officers for their efforts to contribute to the working of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. He told diplomats that he tried to run the ministry purely on professional terms isolating it from domestic politics.
Bilawal also thanked the global community for helping Pakistan in natural disasters like recent floods. He said Pakistan experienced turbulent economic challenges and the world community, especially friendly countries like China and Saudi Arabia came forward to help Pakistan in reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
Regarding upcoming general elections in the country, the Foreign Minister said it will be an opportunity for the people of Pakistan to elect politicians and parties, who believe in expanding space for political harmony and tolerance in the country.
He said the issue of climate change could not be addressed in isolation rather it required concerted efforts. Recalling Pakistan’s role at the COP27, the foreign minister said the outcome of the meeting had not been possible without support form other participating countries.
The dinner was attended by ambassadors, envoys and representatives of the diplomatic corps in Islamabad.
