Eight Pakistanis, who belong to Punjab, are reportedly killed in the Iranian province of Balochistan-Sistan, a private TV channel reported on Saturday while quoting sources.
As per the report, the victims were residents of southern Punjab. The innocent Pakistanis were targeted by an anti-Pakistan terrorist organization.
According to sources, Pakistani embassy officials were gathering more details. Pakistani embassy officials have been dispatched to the site. The process of verifying and identifying the bodies is underway.
As per Khaama Press News Agency, at least eight Pakistani nationals were killed in the eastern Iranian province of Sistan, near the Afghan border, by unidentified gunmen. The attack took place in the early hours of Saturday, in the village of “Hizabad-e-Paeen” in the Mehrestan district.
The gunmen opened fire on the victims and then fled the scene. All the victims were reportedly mechanics. The identities of five of the deceased have been confirmed as Delshad, the owner of the repair shop, along with his son Naeem, and individuals named Jafar, Danesh, and Nasir, all hailing from Pakistan’s Punjab province, the news agency reported.
It should be noted that Punjabi people are being targeted in Pakistani Balochistan by terrorist groups wanted separation from Pakistan for a long time.
This is the first incident of the killing of the Punjabis in Iranian Balochistan by the terrorist group. Neither Iran nor Pakistan has yet issued any official statement about the alleged target killing of Punjabis in Iran.
