The federal government has declared a public holiday to commemorate Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi ul Awwal).
An official notification states that the country will celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on September 17, 1446 Hijri, during the month of Rabi ul Awal. As a result, there will be a nationwide public holiday, and all schools, colleges, as well as government, semi-government, and private offices will be closed.
On Wednesday, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, convened in Islamabad and announced that the crescent for Rabi ul Awal was not sighted. Consequently, the Islamic month will begin today, September 6.
