PESHAWAR: Polling is reported to have begun for by-elections in NA 45 Karam and will continue uninterrupted till 5 pm where an edge to edge contest is expected between PTI chief Imran Khan and PDM’s candidate Jamil Khan of Jamiat Ulema e Islam-Fazal (JUI-F).
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized the arrangements in this regard where a total of 143 polling stations have been set up for the polls, out of which 119 of declared highly sensitive and the as rest sensitive.

The spokesman of Election Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said yesterday that there were 198,618 registered voters among which 111,349 were men and 87,269 were women. He said that a total of 143 polling stations had been set up, out of which 119 had been declared very sensitive while 24 polling stations were put in the category of sensitive.

District Police Officer (DPO) Kurram, Arbab Shafiullah said that preparations had been completed for by-election. He said that transportation of election material had been started at 143 polling stations. He said that among 143 polling stations 119 had been declared very sensitive. 2,100 policemen had been deputed on polling duty, he said, adding that there were 198,618 registered voters among which 111,349 are men and 87,269 are women. The DPO urged the political leaders and workers to abide by rules and cooperate with police to maintain peace during by-election.
