ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission has given the date of general elections in the country on February 11.
During the hearing of the election case in 90 days, the Chief Justice asked the lawyer Election Commission whether the Election Commission had given the date of the elections, on which the lawyer of ECP Sajeel Swati said that the general elections in the country would be held in February.
The Election Commission informed the Supreme Court about the election schedule. The ECP said that all arrangements including constituencies will be completed on January 29 and elections will be held across the country on February 11.
In the details from the council, it was further stated that 3 to 5 days will be taken for the final lists and the final lists will be completed on December 5. If we count 54 days from December 5, it will be January 29, the commission added.
The commission said that they were looking for Sundays for the convenience of the people in the elections, 4th February is the first Sunday while the second Sunday is on 11th February.
The Chief Justice remarked that the Election Commission should be bound by whatever date will be finalized. There should be no further back and forth. We will not do the work of the Election Commission ourselves but will bind them, the chief justice asserted.
