ECB seeks help from UK govt for cricket revival

The England Cricket Board (ECB) has sought assistance from the UK government for the revival of cricket during the coronavirus crisis.
According to the ECB, the government will cooperate with the board to hold international matches in a closed environment. The ECB medical team is in touch with the government to conduct cricket in a safe environment.
According to the British media, the England board intends to hold 18 international competitions behind closed doors. It may be recalled that 3 Tests and 3 T20 matches are scheduled between Pakistan and England.
The Test series was scheduled to start on 30th July. However, due to the coronavirus, playgrounds are also deserted and all activities have been suspended. 
Last week, Australia recently moved to the top replacing Pakistan which remained at top since January 2018 after defeating New Zealand. Pakistan scored the fourth spot with 260 points followed by South Africa and New Zealand on 258 and 242 points.
Sri Lanka has slipped to the seventh spot with 230 points. Afghanistan is down from seventh to 10th while Bulgaria came up to 12 from 51st in the 84-country list of teams. India also lost its number one rank in Test matches to Australia, sliding to third place after having occupied the top spot since October 2016.
