QUETTA: A truck driver has earned praised after a video of him driving away a burning oil tanker to save lives went viral.
In a viral video, Muhammad Faisal was emptying oil at a fuel station located at Qambrani Road, a well-populated area of Quetta, when the oil tanker caught fire.
Soon after the fire engulfed the tanker, the driver immediately drove it away to an unpopulated area to save the people from a disaster.
“I thought now the oil tanker will explode and I will die,” Faisal said as the video of him driving through fire went viral on media. “When I saw the fire I rushed to drive away despite the roaring flames.”
The locals started to shout and pleaded the driver to stop it who chose to put his life at great risk by driving the burning vehicle for around two kilometres.
The brave driver said he was concerned about the population He further explained that every time he would decide to stop, he would see some more people nearby and continue moving.
“I was mentally prepared for my death,” Faisal said. The oil tanker contained more than 10,000 litres of petrol.
A large number of people rushed towards the vehicle once it was stopped and extinguished the flames. The heroic act was widely appreciated by the people present on the scene and owner of the fuel station.
Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Quddus Bizenjo has announced to award Rs 0.5 million to the valiant driver. He said Faisal risked his life saved hundreds of other lives.
