Looks like the latest Pakistani drama ‘Oye Motti’ has officially given a platform to body-shame people by mocking plus-size women openly.
In an era, where dramas and shows should highlight how body and fat-shaming affect people, the promo of the show displays a chubby girl, who gets engaged is shocked by her fiance’s demand.
On the night of their engagement, the man demands that if his fiance does not shed weight from 160 to 70 kg, then he will call off the wedding. The promo of the drama ‘Oye Motti’ has sparked outrage on social media just after it surfaced online. Social media users highly disliked the concept of the drama:
I’m more angry about her finding out that she’s getting engaged to some Nouman tomorrow. https://t.co/hzT1GMiXuY

However, after much backlash, TikToker turned actress Kanwal Aftab, who essayed the role of a chubby girl in the play, came forward and defended the teaser of the episode. She explained that she did the project only for those who have to face body shaming.

She urged her followers to stop criticising each other for their weight and let everyone live their life the way they want. Many people appreciated her for the contribution she made in highlighting body shaming and its effects.
