The Lahore city administration has announced a significant cut in the prices of bakery bread, commonly known as double roti, in the Punjab capital amid declining wheat rates.
Deputy Commissioner Raifa Haider stated that the price of a 750-gram bread loaf has been fixed at Rs180, down from its previous selling price of Rs220 to Rs230 in Lahore. She added that the price of the smaller 400-gram bread loaf has been reduced to Rs90. These new prices will take immediate effect.
The prices of various items have seen a decline due to the reduction in wheat prices. Recently, the provincial government reduced the price of “Tandoori roti” to Rs15 per loaf.
In addition, the Utility Stores Corporation has announced another reduction in ghee prices, effective from Tuesday, May 28. The new subsidized price for ghee will be Rs375 per kilogram, reflecting a decrease of Rs18, while the non-subsidized ghee will be priced at Rs445 per kilogram.
Families registered under the Benazir Income Support Program will now receive ghee at Rs375 per kilogram, while regular consumers will purchase it at Rs445 per kilogram.
