PESHAWAR: A doctor was shot dead by unidentified assailants on the Mir Ali bypass in North Waziristan.
According to police, Dr Waliullah Dawar was killed on Mir Ali Bypass Road while going to Mir Ali from Bannu while the criminals managed to escape. The doctor was also a professor at Bannu Medical College.
Police officials said Dr Waliullah belonged to Hormuz village of Mir Ali and was on his way home at 10PM on Friday evening when he was targeted.
He used to travel to Mir Ali every weekend to treat patients. His body was shifted to THQ Hospital in Mir Ali for autopsy.
In a separate incident in November last year, a 31-year-old doctor named Tahir Ahmed was killed and three members of his family injured in an attack on their house in Punjab’s Nankana Sahib district.
According to an FIR, the attacker indiscriminately fired upon the family when the complainant opened his door to see his relatives off.
