The UAE Dirham has gained slightly against the Pakistani rupee on Thursday, continuing its upward trend from the previous session. As of December 12, the buying rate of the UAE Dirham in Pakistan is Rs. 75.73, reflecting an increase of three paisas, according to the Forex Association of Pakistan. The selling rate of the Dirham is Rs. 76.38 in the country.

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have long shared a close and enduring relationship, marked by strong economic, cultural, and political ties. According to Global Media Insight, there are over 2.09 million Pakistanis living in the UAE, making them the second-largest national group in the country. This represents about 16.72% of the UAE’s total population, reflecting the deep-rooted presence and influence of Pakistanis in the Emirates.

The large Pakistani expatriate community in the UAE plays a pivotal role in strengthening the relationship between the two countries. Pakistanis in the UAE contribute significantly to the country’s workforce, especially in the construction, hospitality, and retail sectors. They also serve as a vital link for trade and investment between Pakistan and the UAE. The remittances sent by Pakistanis working in the UAE provide essential support to families back home and help boost Pakistan’s economy.

The UAE is one of Pakistan’s key trade partners in the Gulf region, and the bilateral trade between the two countries has consistently flourished. The UAE imports a variety of goods from Pakistan, including textiles, fruits, and rice, while also exporting machinery, equipment, and petroleum products. The trade relationship between the two nations continues to grow, and both countries are committed to further enhancing this cooperation.

Beyond trade and remittances, Pakistan and the UAE share a strong cultural and historical bond. The UAE is home to many cultural institutions, events, and celebrations that showcase Pakistan’s heritage. Likewise, Pakistani culture is widely respected and celebrated in the Emirates, with a rich presence in the fields of music, cuisine, and arts. The two nations also work closely in various international forums, advocating for peace, security, and economic stability in the region.

The relationship between Pakistan and the UAE is further strengthened by mutual support during times of need. The UAE has consistently provided humanitarian aid to Pakistan during natural disasters, and Pakistan has been a loyal partner in regional and global matters. The UAE has also extended diplomatic support to Pakistan in various global and regional forums.
