Bollywood’s past continues to intrigue fans, and a new revelation has stirred fresh curiosity. Veteran actress Sujata Mehta spoke about the alleged relationship between Sridevi and Mithun Chakraborty in an old interview with the YouTube channel Hindi Rush. She claimed that the two were deeply in love and even suggested that they had tied the knot.
According to a Indian media, she said, “Keh sakte hai ki breakup ne tod diya tha Sri ko. They were madly in love, I suppose. They even got married, didn’t they? Aisa bolte hai,” She hinted at the impact their breakup had on the late actress, who later married to veteran film producer Boney Kapoor.
Though neither Mithun nor Sridevi ever publicly confirmed their marriage, speculation about their relationship was rife in the late 1980s. Reports suggest they met on the sets of Jaag Utha Insaan in the early 1980s, where their on-screen chemistry translated into a real-life romance. Allegedly, the two secretly married in 1985 but parted ways in 1988.

At the time, Mithun was already married to Yogeeta Bali, which reportedly led to turmoil in his personal life. He had previously been married to Helena Luke before settling down with Yogeeta. Meanwhile, Sridevi remained focused on her flourishing film career, later marrying producer Boney Kapoor in 1996.
