Israel has been conducting airstrikes in Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza as Syrian state media reported that one of the strikes targeted a Russian weapons depot at the Hmeimim Airbase, located in the Jableh countryside on Syria’s west coast.
Russia has long been conducting military operations in Syria out of the Hmeimim Air Base, which is located southeast of Latakia.
Earlier, Israeli airstrikes have reportedly attacked targets in coastal cities, with one attack in the capital, Damascus, killing three civilians and wounded three more.
The Syrian military source cited by the official news agency, SANA, claimed that the strike was directed at a residential structure in the Mezzah area of western Damascus.
Meanwhile, Israel has confirmed the deaths of eight of its soldiers, along with several wounded, in three separate clashes with Hezbollah inside Lebanon.
The largest confrontation occurred in a village north of Israel’s Misgav Am, involving commandos, including an officer.
Two more soldiers from the Golani Brigade were killed in a different encounter. Hezbollah had earlier claimed it inflicted casualties on Israeli soldiers during a failed assault on the Lebanese village of Odaisseh, near the border.
