Dengue spray team was attacked with iron rods and threatened with serious consequences at Gul Afshan Colony, Dhamial, local media reported on Tuesday.
A Health Inspector Amir Sajjad lodged the report with the Dhamial police, stating that he was called while doing his round about an ongoing attack on the dengue spray party, led by Manan Mahmood who were doing area mosquito eradication spraying around Arnial, UC-12 when they approached a house.
According to the report, a man named Arbaz Khan initially answered the door but went back inside without interacting with the team. As the team proceeded, Arbaz reportedly came out with 15 others and attacked the health workers.
The team members were punched, kicked, and assaulted with iron rods and batons. During the assault, a team member managed to call emergency services, and police immediately arrived at the scene, rescuing the health workers from further harm. Two suspects, Mohammad Riaz and Sher Ali were detained, but others ran away.
The FIR further says the attackers took a mobile phone from one of the health workers and broke it during the attack.
Meanwhile, Police have been instructed to monitor strict compliance following the Punjab government’s recent ban on kite flying, sales, and celebratory firing.
