LAHORE: Two people in Rawalpindi and one patient in Karachi and Khanpur died of dengue fever on Wednesday, as the epidemic spreads rapidly across the country,
Hundreds of patients were rushed to hospitals in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and other towns as the dengue death toll reach 16 in Punjab.
The number of patients infected in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad has increased to 4,953. The epidemic killed 11 people in Sindh this year.
In addition to that, 161 more patents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were tested positive for dengue fever. The total number of patients has risen to over 2900 while the health department is unable to manage the alarming situation in the country.
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has directed the authorities to prepare anti-dengue kits and distribute them in the province. Buzdar has instructed to provide the kits in Rawalpindi first and to ensure the best medical facilities in the hospitals across Punjab.
