ISLAMABAD: A meeting of provincial education ministers has started under the chairmanship of Federal Minister Shafqat Mahmood.
The meeting was attended by education ministers and other officials of the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan through video link. The meeting will discuss the three-point agenda and will also review the situation in coronavirus.
An important decision will also be made regarding the winter holidays. Consultations on shifting the academic year from April to August and board examinations for the eighth grade will also be considered.
The meeting will review the fact that cases of coronavirus are being reported continuously in various educational institutions. Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas has already said that he is reviewing the growing number of coronavirus cases in Punjab but no decision has been taken to close schools.

He said that the coronavirus test of staff, students, and teachers in schools are also being done on daily basis, corona cases have increased but the situation is under control. In view of the COVID-19 cases, educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are considering making winter vacations earlier than scheduled. In this regard, the Department of Education has been directed to submit workable proposals.
