BEIJING: The death toll from the new coronavirus (COVID-19) in China has risen to 3,189, while the number of confirmed cases has augmented to 80,824.
Chinese state health committee said on Saturday that the health officials received information about 80,824 confirmed cases of infection with the new type of coronavirus, from 31 provinces in China.
Citing the details health officials said the cases including 12,094 people who are currently sick, 3,610 are in grave condition, 65,541 people were discharged from hospitals, while 3,189 died, the officials added.
Since the novel coronavirus was first identified in Wuhan, the diseases have spread across the globe affecting several countries, according to the latest data provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The WHO earlier declared a global health emergency over the outbreak. United States President Donald Trump had also declared a national state of emergency allocating $50 billion in federal funds for the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump said in a statement “To unleash the full power of the federal government, I´m officially declaring a national emergency”.
He asked all US state authorities to establish emergency operation centers and said the government was speeding up testing, amid criticism about the lack of sufficient test kits countrywide.

The total number of positive cases jumped to 28 from 21 on one the previous day with seven people tested positive at the Taftan border.

After China – Italy, Iran, Pakistan, India, South Korea and many other countries have confirmed outbreaks of the diseases.
