ISLAMABAD: Today is the last day to submit nomination papers for the posts of President and Prime Minister. Other parties including People’s Party and Muslim League (N) are active to participate in the election.
According to the details, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif are strong candidates for the post of President, on whose names Muslim League (N) and PPP support each other. Â
On the other hand, the Sunni Ittehad Council also announced to bring forward its candidates for the posts of President and Prime Minister and received nomination papers. Umar Ayub Khan will be a candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
The election for the post of President will be held on March 9. Muslim League (N) and People’s Party are also expected to compete against each other during sloganeering and protesting against independent members supported by Tehreek-e-Insaf in the National Assembly.
It should be noted that earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan announced the presidential election schedule that nomination papers for the post of president can be submitted before 12 noon today, which can be withdrawn by March 5.
