KARACHI: The head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, has chosen Karachi as the venue for the annual 10-day Muharram gatherings. The last time Syedna Mufaddal led the Muharram congregations in Karachi was in 2017.
Earlier this month, Syedna Saifuddin received a formal invitation from the Pakistani government and the Dawoodi Bohra community to lead Ashara Mubaraka in Pakistan.
Ashara Mubaraka is a ten-day period dedicated to honoring the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his grandson Imam Husain (RA), and his companions and family. This observance commemorates their courageous stand for universal values of compassion, justice, and truth.
The Ashara Mubaraka congregation is expected to draw around 80,000 Dawoodi Bohras from Pakistan and around the world, according to Shabbir Harianawala, an organizer from the Karachi Dawoodi Bohra community.
