A dangerous prisoner managed to escape from the custody of jail police at Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital. According to the police, the fugitive, identified as Agha Salman, broke free from his captors around 1:30 PM yesterday.
The escape raised serious concerns as the jail police took several hours to notify the authorities about the incident. Initial reports suggest that the escape might have been facilitated either by negligence or an intentional act. As a result, investigations have been launched to determine whether Salman escaped on his own or if someone helped him.
A case has already been registered at the Saddar Police Station, filed by a court police officer in connection with the escape. Police officials have also highlighted the severity of Salman’s criminal background, as he is facing multiple charges in various regions. These include a murder case in Punjab, as well as other charges such as house trespassing, harassment of women, theft, and drug trafficking in Karachi.
In response to the incident, the jail police clarified that Agha Salman had been sent to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment through the court police. However, due to alleged negligence by court police officers, the prisoner managed to escape from custody. As part of the ongoing investigation, the responsible officers are being held accountable, and legal action will be taken against those found guilty of dereliction of duty. Moreover, the head constable responsible for overseeing the prisoner has already been arrested.
The authorities are now focused on ensuring that the individual is captured again and that a thorough review of the protocols at the hospital and by the court police is conducted to prevent such incidents in the future.
