The price of a cup of tea in several cafeterias, kiosks and restaurants in Karachi has increased, as tea sellers claim that they have to do so due to the high cost of sugar and gas and electricity.
A cup of tea now costs Rs70 in many kiosks in the city. Price lists for tea, special tea, kahwa and other food items have also been printed for the customers.
Hotel owners say due to high prices of sugar and tea, a cup of tea that used to cost 60 rupees now has been increased to 70.
According to hotel owners, even half a cup of tea is being sold for Rs60 instead of the previous rate of Rs50.

On the other hand, city dwellers say that they are compelled to have tea and cannot give it up.
It may be noted that sugar prices have completed double century in major cities of the country.
