KARACHI: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) killed a target killer of Muttahida Qaumi Movement London (MQM-L) after an exchange of gunfire in Karachi.
The CTD conducted a raid and killed MQM-L target killer Azam alias Ganja during an encounter in Bagh area of Korangi while his accomplice managed to flee from the location.
According to CTD spokesperson, Azam was a close aide of notorious criminal Junaid aka Bulldog and a key member of the party’s team the target killers in Korangi sector. Police also recovered a 9MM pistol and three rounds of ammunition from his possession which has been sent for forensic examination.
The suspect was allegedly involved in various criminal cases. He had allegedly committed murders over the directives of MQM’s unit and sector between 2012 and 2013.
In 2013, Azam killed Jehangir Mangi, an officer of the KDA, near Chiniot Hospital. The same year, he was also responsible for an attack near a police check post in Tasveer Mahal and killing one person.
The CTD also stated that Azam targeted Farooq, an activist of MQM-Haqiqi in Landhi. Furthermore, on the directives of the sector in-charge, he killed a worker of his own political party in Korangi.
Two cases against the deceased target killer were registered with the CTD and he was declared proclaimed offender by the court. The CTD said further information was being ascertained about his criminal activities and efforts are being made to arrest his accomplices.
