KARACHI: A city court has restrained police from registering an FIR for violating COVID-19 restrictions and has directed them to only file a written complaint.
Police has booked several people on violating for violation lockdown restrictions. However, the city court expressed its immense displeasure and directed the police force to stop lodging FIRs.
A judicial magistrate reminded the police that anyone violating the imposition of Section 144 is not to be booked according to earlier court orders. The magistrate gave police the dressing down for not following instructions.
The court further warned police of actions against them while ordering a release of those detained in violations of COVID-19 restrictions.
The district administration and Rangers had conducted a raid in Bahadurabad and stopped a wedding ceremony taking place on the rooftop. They also arrested two event organisers against whom a case was registered.
