RAWALPINDI: The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that such amendments have been introduced lately in accountability laws that have rendered them toothless, unable to nab the powerful ones.
Addressing workers during their oath-taking ceremony here on Monday, Imran Khan asked as to where from the flats worth billions were purchased in a premier location in London [by Nawaz and family]. He said he was held accountable for every single penny he earned from cricket. “If a cricketer can be held accountable, why can’t a three-time prime minister face accountability”, he asked.
He said Maryam Nawaz was acquitted recently, and Zardari too was in the line of acquittal, adding that the amendments introduced recently had made accountability laws toothless, and ineffective to nab the powerful ones.
Imran Khan said he was fully aware of the type of people like Rana Sanaullah and Shehbaz Sharif, and that such people being cowardly in nature resorted to using force against weaker segments of society.
He expressed disappointment over the turnout witnessed from Pindi for the May 25 march, adding that his hopes from party workers of Pindi were not fulfilled. He urged upon party workers and leaders to go door-to-door and contact every single person, preparing them for the much-awaited Long March. He said It was not politics, but like a ‘Jihad‘ (holy struggle) for the country.
