KARACHI: The corrupt employees of District Central are illegally setting up bachat bazaars by receiving a huge bribe, despite the orders from Deputy Commissioner.
Earlier on October 13, deputy commissioner Dr Raja Dharejo, in a notification, said Bachat and car bazaars and other congregations were suspended in Karachi’s district central amid fears of coronavirus spreading in the district.
A total of 31 savings bazaars are set up at various places in the Central District. Sources have informed that almost 12 illegal Bachat Bazaars are set up under the alleged patronage of district administration officers.
Sources prior to the development have informed that clerks Nafees Ahmed, PA Irfan and Zulfiqar Obro are allegedly setting up bachat bazaars.
According to the sources, Assistant Commissioners of District Central are allegedly patronizing the corrupt employees in setting up illegal bachat bazaars. A blatant violation of the government’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) can be seen in the bachat bazaars.
Sources further informed that these bazaars were not only creating hurdles in the execution of uplift projects in different parts of the city but also causing many civic issues in the respective areas.
