ISLAMABAD: Health Ministry Focal person, Dr Mumtaz Ali Khan on Wednesday said the government has decided to launch awareness campaigns on a large scale about coronavirus across the country.
The focal person while talking to the media said all possible steps are being taken to deal with the coronavirus and the government is ready to tackle any emergency situation.
He urged people to increase awareness on the novel Coronavirus that was detected first in China and that is spreading into many other countries.
He said the Ministry of Health is enriching citizens to wear masks in public places and to wash their hands regularly with clean water or use hand sanitizers, he added.
He informed an emergency operation cell, established at the Ministry of National Health, Services and Regulations, has been observing the situation.
Dr Mumtaz Ali Khan said the ministry of health in cooperation with associates organizations is conducting thermal screening on passengers at major Airports where the government established centers with efficient teams.
He further said Pakistani officials, through the embassy in China, are in contact with the 500 students studying in different universities of Wuhan.
He said Pakistani students in China had been informed about the protective steps and also instructed to follow the instructions. Dr Khan also advises that citizens should take precautionary steps by using masks, staying hydrated and ensuring personal hygiene.
