SHAANXI: Pakistani students have been barred to travel to Pakistan from China due to the ongoing epidemic coronavirus.
Pakistani students have been at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport.
According to the student, the Pakistani government was not cooperating over their evacuation process.
The Chinese authorities were willing to provide us an airplane but the Pakistani government was not cooperating, citing that any flight from China is not allowed to land due to fears of coronavirus spread across the country, said one of the students.
He further said, “No flight is operational between Pakistan and China. We purchased tickets several times but the flight was canceled just one hour before departure.”
“There are around 559 Pakistanis stranded in Wuhan”, he added.
On the other hand, Foreign Office spokesperson Ayesha Farooqui said that the Pakistani government was observing the situation in China.
Officials were working to ensure the safety of Pakistani students in Wuhan despite coronavirus infection that has killed 170 people, she confirmed.
Coronavirus is a virus that causes illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.
