Coronavirus claims 15 more lives in Pakistan

KARACHI: The total number of deaths in Pakistan due to the coronavirus has risen to 6,097 and 284,660 people have been affected.

According to figures released by the National Command and Operations Center, 531 new cases and 15 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours across the country. Coronavirus was defeated by 261,246 patients across the country. There are currently 17,833 active cases of corona in Pakistan.

Around 123,849 coronavirus cases were reported in Sindh, 94,447 in Punjab, 34,755 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 11,906 in Balochistan, 15,261 in Islamabad, 2,141 in Azad Kashmir and  2,334 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The death toll from the coronavirus has risen to 2,170 in Punjab, 2,272 in Sindh, 1,231 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 171 in Islamabad, 138 in Balochistan, 58 in Azad Kashmir and 57 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

So far, 2,165,811 tests have been performed across the country and there are currently 146 patients on a ventilator in hospitals. There are 1859 ventilators for coronavirus patients in Pakistan.

The first case of corona in Pakistan was registered on 26th February and 1000 deaths occurred by 21st May. According to the health ministry, the pace of cases has slowed, but caution is still needed.

Moreover, the NCOC has issued a warning for the re-emergence of coronavirus in Muharram. The effective measures against the coronavirus during Muharram will ensure the safety and well-being of the people, the officials maintained.
