LAHORE: The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan have surged past 9,749 after overs 300 new cases emerged in several areas across the country.
According to the national dashboard, the country has reported 209 deaths. So far, 2,156 people have recovered from coronavirus across the country.
Punjab remains the worst affected province from coronavirus with 4,328 infections. Around 49 new cases were recorded in the province in the last 24 hours.
Sindh government reported fresh cases of the coronavirus in the province taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,053. As many as 269 people have recovered from the infection.
There are 495 confirmed cases in Balochistan while 161 patients have recovered from the infection so far. The confirmed cases of COVID-19 have surged to 1,345 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
There are 283 coronavirus cases in Gilgit-Baltistan. The government in the region has decided to impose a curfew for two days to stem the spread of the disease.
There are 51 cases in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. There are 194 cases in Islamabad while three patients have recovered so far.
About 66 people have died of COVID-19 in Sindh, 51 in Punjab, 80 in KP, 06 in Balochistan, 03 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 03 in Islamabad.
Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan earlier on Tuesday underwent a test for COVID-19 after the Edhi Foundation’s Chairperson Faisal Edhi, who met the premier last week, was diagnosed with the virus. The result is of Imran Khan’s COVID-19 test is expected today.
