KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi on Saturday has re-issued orders, seeking early closure of markets and shopping malls across the Metropolis as part of energy conservation program.
The early closure of markets and shopping malls has always been a bone of contention between traders and the city administration. In December last year, traders proposed to close markets at 9pm, while restaurants can be closed between 11pm to midnight in the port city after several days of negotiations with the Sindh government. However, this could never be implemented, except for Corona lockdown days.
According to notification issued today, Commissioner Karachi has written to all Deputy Commissioners, asking them to ensure closure of shopping mall and markets latest by 8:30pm, and marriage halls and restaurants latest by 10pm.
