KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi stated that the metropolis’ Club Road that joins the Metropole hotel and the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) House to be used as one-way from January 18 onwards.
According to a notification issued by Commissioner Karachi, any citizen traveling from PIDC to Metropole Hotel will have to find a new route to connect to the road as vehicles will only be allowed to move from Metropole to PIDC.
It further stated that “The violation of one way on the road shall be punishable under the existing traffic laws,” the notification read.
“The only traffic coming from Metropole towards PIDC shall be allowed to ply on the road whereas the traffic coming from PIDC Metrople shall be barred.”
Earlier in July, in a meeting held at the Commissioner Office, it was decided that the radius of the Fawara Chowk roundabout would be condensed.
Karachi Development Authority Traffic Engineering Bureau Senior Director, Naveed Izhar, stated that the decision to make Club Road one-way was made to handle the traffic during rush.
