KARACHI: The investigation team probing the crash of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-8303 in a residential area Karachi has found the cockpit voice recorder of the aircraft.
PIA spokesman said the cockpit voice recorder was recovered from the debris at the site of the crashed plane. It has been handed over to the Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB) to help in the aircraft crash investigation.
PIA has urged citizens not to keep any part of the wreckage and hand it over to the relevant authorities. The investigators made hectic efforts to recover the voice recorder from the crash site for further investigation.
The airline had found the black box on Saturday, a day after the ill-fated airline crashed in Model Colony area of Karachi, killing 97 people on board including eight crew members while there were two survivors.
An investigation team of airplane manufacturer Airbus is still in Karachi investigating into the matter. The experts will take the aircraft’s black box, which contains the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder along with any other evidence to assist with the investigation.
Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired an important meeting to review the latest developments in the investigation of the plane crash. PIA, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials and federal ministers attended the meeting.
The authorities briefed the prime minister on the preliminary findings of the investigation and about the facilities provided to the injured and family members of the victims.
