Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Peshawar and met with political leaders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regarding the maintenance of law and order in the province.
He stated that while the enemy will try to spread fear, we will not retreat, and every attempt to disrupt peace in the country will be met with a decisive and strong response. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief was welcomed by the Peshawar Corps Commander during his visit.
General Munir was briefed in detail about the current security situation in the country and ongoing counter-terrorism operations against the Khorasan group. The Federal Interior Minister and the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also present.
The Army Chief praised the sacrifices and determination of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies, saying that the exemplary successes of our security institutions in the war on terrorism are a source of pride for the nation.
He further stated, “Our forces, with unmatched courage, professional skills, and sacrifices, are effectively weakening the terrorists. By eliminating key terrorist leaders and destroying their networks and infrastructure, we have sent a clear message that terrorism has no place in our country.
This war will continue, and we will bring it to a logical conclusion, Insha Allah.”
The Army Chief also mentioned that law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safety of citizens and maintain peace, thwarting several attacks and keeping peace in the country. He called each operation a testament to the determination, professionalism, and preparation of the security forces.
General Asim Munir sent a clear message that every attempt to disrupt the peace of the country will be met with a decisive and strong response. He stated, “The enemy may attempt to spread fear and chaos, but we will not retreat. Hostile elements will be dealt with an iron hand, and they will face heavy losses.”
The Army Chief praised the high morale of the Pakistan Army soldiers, stating that they are determined to protect the sovereignty of the motherland. He emphasized that the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies are united as an invincible force.
Later, the Army Chief held separate meetings with politicians from various political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The participants emphasized the need for a unified political voice and public support in the fight against terrorism.
The political representatives reaffirmed their unwavering support for the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in the nation’s fight against terrorism and agreed that unity, beyond political differences, is essential to eliminate the extremist ideology.
