KARACHI: The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations reopened on Sunday after being closed for six-days in Sindh and almost 37-day in Punjab.
According to a spokesperson of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), CNG stations will remain open across Sindh for 24 hours from 8:00 am Sunday. Long queues of vehicles were seen outside CNG stations in the metropolis Sunday morning as gas stations reopened after nearly a week.
On the other hand, after an almost 37-day closure, CNG reopened in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from 6:00 am on Sunday. The gas supply to CNG outlets in Punjab and Potohar region was suspended for the last 37 days due to a shortage of the commodity in the peak winter season.
The SSGC spokesperson said, “Pressure is low from the various gas fields and they are facing problems in providing gas to the domestic consumers too. The further schedule of the CNG station will be announced later by keeping the gas pressure in view,” he added.
Central leader of All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas Association (APCNGA) Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha has said that the public would get relief with the availability of the CNG as all stakeholders including owners, employees of the stations as well as motorists faced great financial hardships during the supply suspension period.
He hoped that the CNG sector would get uninterrupted supply in the next winter season with the import of its own ‘private’ liquefied natural gas.
