The provincial government has launched a polio eradication campaign in Sindh. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah appealed to parents to ensure their children are given polio drops, as reported by national media.
According to details, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the anti-polio campaign by administering polio drops to children.
The ceremony was attended by Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, Chief Secretary, IG, and others.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the anti-polio campaign, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that the Sindh government is committed to eradicating polio. A total of 10.6 million children will be administered polio drops, including 2.76 million children in Karachi.
The Chief Minister directed that the availability of the vaccine be ensured at schools, shopping malls, and transit points as well. To ensure the safety of polio workers, 25,360 police personnel have been deployed.
Murad Ali Shah urged parents to make sure their children receive polio drops, stating that there is no cure for polio—only the vaccine can prevent disability. This very vaccine has been the reason behind the global decline of polio.
He added that the same polio vaccine is also administered to people going for Hajj and Umrah. Repeated doses of the polio vaccine do not harm but instead provide increased protection to children
