Earlier on October 13, Jam Kamal Khan via a tweet revealed that he had tested positive for coronavirus. “My Covid Test has come positive,” he wrote.
Nearly 108 politicians, including PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani, and National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser have previously tested positive for coronavirus.
Most of those politicians went into self-isolation and had recovered. Of the total, 42 belong to the ruling Pakistan PTI alone. On the other hand, PTI MPA Shaheen Raza was the first lawmaker in the country who died due to COVID-19.
On Sunday, keeping in view the rising number of new coronavirus cases, several streets in Islamabad, which have been identified as the Coronavirus hotspots, were placed under smart lockdown.
Earlier this week, Federal Planning Minister Asad Umar said that the COVID-19 mortality rate in Pakistan has increased by 140% in the last week and warned the public against ignoring the safety protocols.
Asad Umar, who also oversees Pakistan’s COVID-19 response, said, “We are collectively committing a blunder by recklessly ignoring all SOPs and the results have started to show.”
