PARIS: A new study has revealed that climate change could trigger a sudden acceleration in disaster for people and wildlife.
According to the global research effort, the human activities that result in pollution can be destructive, putting a million species at risk of extinction.
The new study on the possible impact of rising temperatures stated, “The climate change risks to biodiversity do not increase gradually.” The study further stated that climate change is not a slippery slope, but a series of cliff edges. It hits different areas at different times.
Moreover, the coronavirus has surpassed the ecological crisis more as a series of studies have emphasized that the risk that seemingly slow-moving processes by climate change could suddenly accelerate and result in a disaster for people globally.
According to the previous study, severe disruption to ecosystems could happen this century as the burning of fossil fuels surrounds the earth with more heat-trapping gasses. Moreover, tropical ocean species could face new temperature regimes before 2030 due to climate change.
