Chicken and egg prices in Lahore and other areas of Punjab have witnessed massive increase after a brief decline.
Chicken price saw a rise of Rs21 per kilogram, reaching Rs511/kg compared to earlier rate of Rs490. According to the official price list, the price of live chicken increased by Rs15 per kilogram, setting the wholesale rate at Rs339/kg and the retail price at Rs353/kg.
In Multan, Chicken meat is being sold for Rs485 per kilogram, while the wholesale price of live chicken is Rs322 per kilogram, and the retail rate stands at Rs336/kg.
Meanwhile, egg prices have also seen a slight uptick, with a Rs2 increase bringing the rate to Rs334 per dozen, up from Rs332. In Multan, the price per dozen eggs is set at Rs330.
Moreover, the cost of cooking oil and ghee has risen significantly in November 2024. Reports indicate that first-grade ghee and oil prices have increased by Rs54 per kilogram, while second- and third-grade ghee and oil have seen a hike of Rs60 per kilogram.
