ISLAMABAD: Cellular subscriptions in Pakistan have crossed the 183 million mark by the end of March 2021, according to the latest figures updated by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
Broadband subscriptions have also crossed 101 million including 98 million 3G and 4G subscribers. Broadband penetration reached 46.4 percent of the country by the end of March 2021 compared to 44.6pc in January.
According to the figures, total internet subscribers in the country have crossed the 100m mark mainly owing to lockdowns and mobility restrictions against 95.4m in January 2021. The mobile data usage in March was 545m Gigabytes (GB) compared to 594m GB consumed in January this year.
The PTA figures show that Jazz continues to dominate with 37.80% subscribers, followed by Telenor Pakistan 26.71%, Zong 21.90%, Ufone 12.81% and SCO 0.77%.
In terms of 4G market share, Jazz leads this segment as well with 28.86 million 4G subscribers, followed by Zong with 22.49 million, Telenor Pakistan 16.10 million, Ufone six million and SCO 0.7 million.
