Islamabad: The ruling political party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the central leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have initiated discussions on prominent names for the next Prime Minister.
According to details, the allied political parties of the PDM government have not yet reached a consensus on a suitable personality for the Prime Minister position. After considering other names, discussions have begun on the names of former Sindh governor Dr, Ishratul Ebad and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Consultations are also ongoing on the name of former Prime Minister Muhammad Mian Soomro. PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari have consulted multiple times on potential names for the next Prime Minister.
It is expected that the final name for the caretaker Prime Minister will be announced in the coming week. Former President Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif will propose their candidate for Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, after which consultations with the opposition leader will take place.
According to reliable sources, the opposition leader Raja Riaz’s role may be crucial in the selection of the next Prime Minister. Earlier, there were contradictory statements from Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and PPP leadership regarding the names for the next Prime Minister.
