The International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment has confirmed that portions of three examination papers from the June 2025 series were leaked shortly before the exams.
The disclosure follows an internal investigation by Cambridge’s security team, which determined that many widely circulated rumors regarding widespread paper leaks were unfounded.
According to the board, the leaks were part of a calculated effort to undermine the integrity of the examination process.
The investigation revealed attempts by certain individuals to extort money from candidates by distributing counterfeit exam papers. Evidence of malpractice was confirmed, specifically involving sections of three papers shared shortly before the scheduled exams.
Cambridge stressed that its investigation remains ongoing and that decisive action will be taken against those found responsible as further evidence is gathered.
This incident follows a wave of discontent among Pakistani students earlier in April, when the Cambridge International A-Level results triggered widespread criticism. The exams scheduled for May 9 and 12 were suspended in Pakistan due to nationwide unrest. Rather than rescheduling, Cambridge awarded average marks based on available data, a decision that sparked outrage among students who believed their academic performance had been unfairly assessed.
