Ride-hailing service provider Bykia has announced that it is introducing digital payment for all its rides to provide customers with a convenient, secure and cashless travel experience.
In a post on LinkedIn, Bykia’s Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder Rafiq Malik described the move as a major milestone in Bykia’s journey to modernize urban transportation in Pakistan.
Under the new initiative, passengers can now pay Bykia’s driver-partners through Easypaisa, Jazz Cash and online bank transfers.
Rafiq Malik said that this change is not just about convenience, but is a revolutionary step towards promoting financial inclusion and safer, more efficient travel.
He added that the step will not only enhance customer convenience but also contribute to a broader transition toward a cashless economy—one that fosters transparency, security, and inclusive financial access.
Malik explained that Bykea initially operated as a cash-based platform, reflecting Pakistan’s reliance on cash transactions. However, increasing customer demand prompted a shift toward digital payments. He noted that the timing was ideal, given the launch of Raast—a real-time, secure payment system developed by the State Bank of Pakistan—and the doubling in the use of digital wallets.
While card-based payments are not currently available, Malik indicated that the company may consider incorporating them in the future.
