Hollywood actor Bruce Willis is “stepping away” from his acting career after being diagnosed with an illness.
His family, including his wife Emma Heming-Willis and ex-wife Demi Moore, posted a joint statement on social media announcing Willis’ retirement after he was diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder caused by brain damage that affects a person’s ability to communicate.
Willis, aged 67, is best known for playing John Mc Clane in the ‘Die Hard’ films, which made him a star. Willis has five daughters, three with Demi Moore and two with Heming-Willis.
It further read, “This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that. Love, Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, & Evelyn.”
Bruce Willis made his silver screen debut with an uncredited role in The First Deadly Sin. He is best known for playing John McClane in the Die Hard franchise.
Some of his other popular films include The Fifth Element, Armageddon, The Sixth Sense, The Last Boy Scout, Death Becomes Her, Pulp Fiction and 12 Monkeys. Willis was last seen in A Day to Die, which hit screens in March this year.
