In a tragic incident, a boy celebrating his 25th birthday died after his friends threw him off a fourth-floor balcony due to a dispute over a shortage of alcohol at a party in Kalyan, India.
The incident occurred on June 27, when Kartik Vayal invited his three friends—Nilesh Kshirsagar, Sagar Kale, and Dheeraj Yadav—to celebrate his birthday.
According to police officials, the evening started smoothly, with conversation and drinks flowing freely. However, as the night progressed and the alcohol ran out, the friends, all heavily intoxicated, began arguing over the lack of booze. The argument escalated when Kartik, feeling insulted, smashed an alcohol bottle over Nilesh’s head and demanded that all three leave his home.
Kartik then went to his bedroom and fell asleep. Enraged, Nilesh, Sagar, and Dheeraj entered his room, dragged him onto the balcony, and threw him off. Kartik sustained severe injuries from the fall and was found lying in a pool of blood.
When Kartik’s family discovered the incident and alerted the police, the three friends concocted a story, claiming that Nilesh was injured after Kartik struck him with a bottle and that they had no idea how Kartik fell off the balcony. However, under pressure from Kartik’s family, the police investigated further and uncovered the true sequence of events.
The Ulhasnagar police have now registered a murder case against Nilesh, Sagar, and Dheeraj. “The accused gave conflicting statements, raising doubts about their account of Kartik’s death. We were persistently working to determine the sequence of events that resulted in this tragic loss of life,” said a police officer.
