Bollywood actor Aamir Khan meets Turkish First Lady

NEW DELHI: Bollywood star Aamir Khan has met First Lady of Turkey Emine Erdogan during the shooting of his upcoming movie ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’.

The first lady received Aamir Khan at the presidential residence at the Huber Mansion in Istanbul.  The 55-year-old Bollywood actor talked to Erdoğan regarding the social responsibility projects he is associated with.

During the meeting, the first lady congratulated the actor on addressing social issues in his movies.

“Mr Khan stated that he would complete the shooting of his latest film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, which could not be completed in India due to COVID-19, in Turkey, and invited First Lady Erdogan to the film set,” the press release read further.

However, it has upset many netizens on social media: 

I think Amir Khan should get detained and questioned by concerned authorities once he arrives from Turkey.

Hundreds of countries in world but Amir khan landed in Turkey for the shooting of Lal singh Chadda.
Turkey is one of few countries which always speaks against India.

Along with Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan will also be seen playing a pivotal role in the movie. ‘Laal Singh Chadha’ is an official remake of 1994 Oscar-winner ‘Forrest Gump’. It is adapted by Atul Kulkarni from Eric Roth’s screenplay.

The film’s shooting schedule in Punjab, northern India, was halted in March due to the pandemic. Consequently, the film’s release, originally scheduled for December 2020, has now been pushed to year-end 2021.
